CITB Site Safety Plus Training Courses

Site Safety Plus Courses (‘The Scheme’) have been designed to provide the building, civil engineering, and allied industries with a framework for training and career development. It is aimed at all levels of the workforce.

The Scheme recognises a natural progression from those first entering the industry to those responsible for managing building and construction work.

A series of courses has been developed to fit into the CITB Site Safety Plus framework. This starts with a Health and Safety Awareness Course, to prepare for an industry accreditation card: The Health and Safety Awareness course, and then progresses to an intermediate level for those about to take on supervisory responsibilities: The Site Supervision Safety Training Scheme and which is supported by a refresher course.
The Site Management Safety Training Scheme is designed to assist site managers and potential site managers in developing knowledge, awareness and understanding of their legal, moral, and social responsibilities for health, safety, and welfare on construction sites. This course is the most widely recognised for the construction industry and which is supported by a refresher course.

Achieving Behavioural Change (ABC)

This one-day course is designed to provide delegates with an understanding of how attitude and behaviour can affect the chances of accidents occurring.
For this course to be successful, it is important that attendees come from all levels within an organisation, i.e., managers, supervisors, and workers.

Health and Safety Awareness (HSA)

This one-day course is designed to help those who are about to work, or have just begun to work within the construction and civil engineering industry.
It provides a practical summary of health, safety, welfare and environmental issues, identifying the Delegate’s responsibility for looking after themselves and others, outlines the employer’s duties and explains what should be done if the worker thinks that anyone’s health and safety is being put at risk. The course is an ideal foundation for those wishing to obtain an industry accreditation card.

A natural progression from this course would be to attend The Site Supervision Safety Training Scheme. (SSSTS)
